The DIY Joint Summer Camp

What Makes It Special?

Here at The DIY Joint, we know that you have your fair share of choices when it comes to finding an affordable summer camp program in Hoboken. Why should you choose ours? To start, our summer camp isn’t your traditional summer camp. We offer a week’s worth of woodworking classes for kids that in which your children will use their hands and minds to make something awesome. There are two different week-long immersion summer camps in July:

  • July 8-12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: children 9 to 12 years old
  • July 15-19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: children 13 to 16 years old

Kinetic sculptures and outdoor games are just a couple of the fun and practical projects we have slated for campers and they’ll even get a chance to test out their projects when we take outdoor breaks in the park. In addition to Priscilla Van Houten, the founder and owner of our woodworking shop, we have secured Christopher Murphy as the teacher for our kids’ woodworking classes this summer. Mr. Murphy has 10 years of experience as a youth woodworking teacher, so you can rest assured that your children are in good hands.

Skills Utilized

During our summer camp program, our kids’ woodworking classes will teach your child the following critical skills:

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Mathematics and measurements
  • How to use hand and power tools
  • Planing and finishing
  • Joinery techniques

What Else You Should Know

Our woodworking shop will provide your child with two snacks each day, but your child needs to bring their own lunch. There are limited refunds for cancelations, so please contact our team if you are concerned about having to pull your child from registration. Please keep in mind that summer camp dates and times are firm — we do not offer care outside of the scheduled classes.
